Congratulations!

James and I went to the Student Achievement Awards for the University of Idaho tonight.  He had been nominated for two of the awards, but they don't notify the winners ahead of time, so we didn't know if he had won or not.

He did!!  James won the Richard Gibb Award, which is given to an outstanding non-traditional student.

Congratulations, James!

Like Father, Like Daughter

We love tv in our house. A little too much. But we do try to limit the amount that Maiby watches. There are always times when you get a little bored watching tv, no matter how much you like it. Admit it, you know what I'm talking about.

This is what happens when James gets bored:

If you don't know from experience, let me just say that it's REALLY entertaining to look over at your husband and see his belt strapped around his head like a crown or around his foot. But on the day of this photo, it was too difficult to get the belt out. So the phone became the boredom distraction.

I wasn't able to get a picture of it, but I will try next time she has it, but the other day Maiby and I were watching a movie and I looked over and she had a slinky around her neck, like a multi-colored, really wide necklace. It was so darn cute. She had put it there and then forgotten about it, much like the phone on daddy's head.

But she really likes the pirate eye patch that came with the slinky in a birthday party favor bag:
That was a smile, really; the elastic kind of makes it look like a drimace, but she was happy.

Need a Ride?

Yesterday James decided to go for a 'hike'. He put our 72-hour kit on his back and took off in the rain. The pack was covered with a garbage bag so our stuff didn't get wet (not that it would, since everything is bagged up inside). Anyway, about halfway through his hike, a man pulled over his car and offered James a ride to the highway. Being the dedicated work-out-er he is, he declined and continued his hike. When he got home, he had me take a picture of him right away and asked me to post it.

(Another) Tag

I was tagged by Dorese, and I apparently get to talk all about one of my favorite things - James.

1. What is his name? James
2. Who eats more? James. He is always trying to get me to eat the same amount as him, but that is only a good idea when I am pregnant.
3. Who said I love you first? Me.
4. Who is taller? Me.
5. Who is smarter? James would say it was me, since I 'have 2 degrees', but I say we're pretty even.
6. Who is more sensitive? Me.
7. Who does the laundry? Me.
8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me.
9. Who pays the bills? Me.
10. Who cooks more? Me.
11. What meals do you cook together? That doesn't really happen.
12. Who is more stubborn? Maiby.
13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? James tells me all the time that I'm always right, so I guess that would mean he is the first to admit to be wrong (since I obviously never am).
14. Who has more siblings? James.
15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? James.
16. What do you like to do together? Make Maiby laugh.
17. Who eats more sweets? Me.
18. Guilty pleasures? Guitar Hero and sleeping in (which is pretty much impossible with a Maiby around).
19. How did you meet? He showed up on my doorstep one day.
20. When did you fall in love with him? Writing letters to/from basic training.
21. Who has changed the most since you married? I think that's been pretty equal.
22. Who proposed? James.
23. His best features? James is very good-looking. But he's a Grossman, so that basically goes without saying.
24. What is his greatest quality? He is very forgiving and takes good care of his family.
